On November 19, 2009, at its Eighteenth Annual Awards Dinner held in the Four Seasons Hotel Ballroom in Beverly Hills, STOP CANCER honored three peer-reviewed recipients of our prestigious Research Careeer Development Awards, one Special Miller Family Research Award, two Special Research Grants in Memory of Kim Gregory, three ongoing Breast Cancer Research Grants in Memory of Marni Levine and one ongoing Smalley Family Research Grant in Memory of Isadore Familian. It’s what STOP CANCER is all about!

These young, innovative cancer research Awardees represent the USC/Norris, UCLA/Jonsson and City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Centers that STOP CANCER has supported for eighteen years.

Nobelist Dr. David Baltimore, former President of California Institute of Technology and presently Robert A. Milikan Professsor of Biology at that Institute, was the guest speaker, introduced by our Chair Sherr y Lansing who co-founded STOP CANCER in 1988 with the late Dr. Armand Hammer, Chairman of Occidental Petroleum Corporation and renowned Citizen-Diplomat.

This annual event provides an excellent opportunity for our members and guests to personally meet our new and past Awardees and to hear about their research in their laboratories and clinics.

It is a unique facet of STOP CANCER that our members know exactly where their
monies go –directly to these brilliant young doctors dedicated to conquering cancer!
